About Rick

Drawing has been a part of my life since I was very young. In grade school my teachers would express a special appreciation for any art project I turned in. Later in life, I would enjoy combining my love for illustration with my love for teaching children by writing and illustrating stories that teach life lessons in an engaging and humorous fashion.

A life long goal of mine has been to take my stories to publication. This lead to my first book, “Sully Wants To Be a Rabbit.” It is a parable about a skunk that isn’t happy with the way he was created and seeks to make a dramatic change. Sully learns something important about himself—to value who he was truly created to be. Which is an important lesson for “children” of all ages. In addition to sharing my stories, I also enjoy talking to children about my love for cartooning, and I especially enjoy encouraging them to explore the art of doodling on their own.

I have been commissioned to create caricatures and artwork for people all over the world. In my drawings I enjoy adding personal touches with bits of humor to each piece.

Photography is something that I picked up a bit later in life. I have seen success in this area by receiving various awards and having my photographs grace the walls of banks, medical facilities, homes, golf clubs, and other places where people gather.

Currently I live in the Oklahoma City area with my wife, Marylynn. Together we have three beautiful daughters who introduced us to three son-in-laws, and gave us four grandchildren. I have been involved in ministry since 1980. Currently I serve as the lead pastor at Lake Overholser Church of the Nazarene in Bethany, OK.

Something I like telling people is, “Life needs to be fun and funny. If it’s not fun or funny, then it is just no fun.”
